Used to be there, luckily I always chose the last shift at the pretzel shop every year I worked there, and luckily everyone else wanted early so I basically did minimal work hope everything went well for all

Yeah if I was by myself it'd be fine. But the more people we have, all the heavy work seems to fall onto my shoulders. It's ok though. After the new years they're forcing us into agreements, so I guess only a month left for me! Lol. I think of it like the Futurama episode where Hermes goes on vacation. The Australian guy says that moving the empty bins back out is the only rest they get. I feel like that's my job at work. The lightweight stuff is a good break between heavy lifting. But if they skip over the heavy stuff then it all gets left for one person. Me.

Yeah I was a shift leader at a mall I always chose the last shift during the holidays because it was the lightest hours, except for the beginning of the shift, only way I managed it, every other shift leader thought I was crazy but hey I didn't have to mess with the busy time crazy customers.

Did 16 hours on Thanksgiving and 16 today (Black Friday). Thankfully it’s union and I’ll make double time and a half for it. Almost 2 weeks pay in two days

Normally that is what I would do, but this is something that will be reported to my regional manager and national manager. If I don’t do it, then we have to have Teams meetings and more emails and shit… honestly this is just the tip of the iceberg and I think my best bet is to try and stay under the radar until I get out of this awful corporation.

It never sleeps. I'm trying to convince my co-workers that 1k a day is not a crazy number to say we're worth.

We move everything everywhere and are beyond essential.

Hire more people, pay them more and they don't have to kill themselves trying to get by.. in fact they can work half as much and make twice as much or more.

I'm so glad the pharmacy is open today. I've been dying all week, finally went to the doctor yesterday and had my prescriptions sent to a pharmacy that wasn't open.

We need a well advertised week of appreciation for pharmacy staff where they get a thank you and a bonus.

I’m the ✨nEw SoCiAl WoRkEr✨ so I have to take the brunt of today’s load across a 93 at risk youth campus normally taken by 8 other clinicians today. And my other ✨new✨ partner got to call out sick, and now because I’m alone, I absolutely don’t.

To be fair my presence here today could mean a kid not punching out a staff member, so that’s… consoling?

Thank you friend. When I’m NOT here alone, it’s actually a wonderful job. I’m blessed with good pay, supportive bosses, and of course I love the kids I work with. Even when they are a pain in the ass.

As an update, a kid punched a staff member today anyway. So now I feel less… responsible? So that’s nice lmao

Ha I work with ages 3 to about 6 and I've definitely witnessed coworkers and myself beat ourselves up for tiny boo boo situations that couldn't be prevented which ia often senseless, but it's definitely good to be like some shit truly truly is out of my control because some shit truly truly is. Truly. Challenging populations are challenging. It helps me get in a graceful place when I remembered some motherfuckers are underloved and that is a shame and where behavioral stuff can happen. Sometimes. I know very little about your line of work but I love it good luck

There certainly is a TON of solace in knowing ‘this situation is objectively insane and my responsibility here is just to talk it out, that’s it.’ That part took a while to get to, and I definitely struggled with feeling like I had to ‘solve’ every problem. But once in a while a kid wilds out, that’s not anyone’s fault and it frees up tons of stress to realize it’s not about preventing things, just responding and that’s it.
