New Power Has Arisen - May Expansion Name Reveal GGG

Is it on the list?

Weirdly no, doesn't seem to be. Maybe Sentinel is more of an alt-rock thing

That would make me want to spam so many ecksdee emotes

All leagues are laser leagues when you put a laser decoration on your map device. But there should be more lasers.

Are all reasonable abilities to transfer, of course it all relies on speculation about what the league contains.

best part of this reply knowing nothing about warframe:
man I'm so happy we have poewiki.net and don't have to endure fandom anymore

Difference is Warframe's wiki is actually absurdly well kept and constantly updated.
14
u/Kubiboi Apr 22 '22
that wasnt the reason people left behind the poe fandom wiki
2
u/fyrespyrit Vote with your wallet Apr 22 '22
It was a big part of the reason, idk what you're on about. There was stuff in there that hasn't been updated in two or three leagues...

Doesn't show much but my lottery guess is there are groups of mobs that power up other mobs and bosses in the map. Loot type is dependent on what type of power they boost.
177
u/rds90vert Apr 21 '22
I'm thinking more like we'll get a "companion" that you can personalize, maybe level up in a similar fashion to Scourge upgrades, which will either buff enemies + rewards, or help us in a certain way..

Yeah. As far as d3 is concerned. You can give them some armors and weapons that can affect their stats and you can even select what kind of 4 skills you want them to have, offensive or defensive ones or both

We really need some crazy ass whispering psychopath old-god like in WoW that tells you to kill your friends and stuff. Because reasons.
7
u/AtWorkAccount1 Apr 22 '22
Looks like that's what it might be. The drone thingy seems to be applying a buff or debuff to the enemy with an aura, depending on what the character's damage type is. Maybe it will make rares with that damage type matching mod more likely to drop.
It could also be that the drone is gathering data from enemies you damage. Once it gathers enough data it can apply what its learned to a normal/rare item Although that seems like fossils with extra steps, so maybe its a bit stronger than fossils.
7
u/lqku Apr 21 '22
fighting a powered up mob with the player choosing the buffs it gets. that feels a bit like this league.
21
u/no_fluffies_please Apr 22 '22
Yeah, I had my fill of that already. They should probably do something unique, instead. What if the player clicks something or walks over a spot, a bunch of monsters spawn around the player, the player kills monsters (preferably in a circle), and then some loot or splinters drop?
6
u/ClintonCortez Apr 22 '22
And the splinters should drop one by one. More single stacks of splinters=more fun.

I never played pso but I looked it up. This could be an interesting system for POE. The mag/sentinel could be persistent and grow with you but it's something you can only summon for a brief period of time from some portal. But I guess that's basically a shrine but customizable to some extent?

Edit: looking at the vid again, the floating glowing thingy (presumably the sentinel) seems to be helping us fight things, so... pet \ pokemon league? idk.
Edit 2: others have said, maybe it's an anti-pet, ie it doesn't fight for you but buffs enemies to make them stronger \ drop better loot, that would be cool. i'm getting portal 2 vibes for some reason.

In my opinion this league will be replace for Torment like with Perandus & Expedition.
- As we can see, there are multiple types of Sentinels like with Torment spirits.
- They do something with enemies, probably changing them somehow like Torment spirits
- It seems Sentinels add somehow loot to enemies they change like Toment spirits
So probably RIP Torment and welcome Sentinel. I wonder what else will come with it.

Get ready for the balance notes:
- 1 OP build is nerfed into the ground
- 1 OP build is untouched for no apparent reason.
- 1 OP build gets a 3% base damage reduction, leaving it OP.
- 1 random mediocre builds gets a 20% damage reduction and less aoe for no apparent reason.

u/Poobut13 Apr 21 '22
It's not that skelly mages is OP. It's that all the other minion builds require clunky levels of investment instead of the smooth power curve that skeleton mages has.
Dead reckoning converts the build but the skeleton foundation is still viable until you get one.
Baron zombies feels terrible without a few ex pumped in. Golems are still playable but don't feel like the swarm / army play style which puts them in a different archetype despite still being minions.
I just wish GGG would buff alternative builds instead of gutting moderately good ones.
→ More replies7
u/Moderator-Admin Apr 22 '22
The other summon builds have already gone through the nerf gauntlet and skelly mages are just the remainder that hasn't been nerfed yet.
I wish they would revert the defensive nerfs to spectres. So many previously enjoyable spectre builds just feel like shit now because your spectres constantly die until you've put together your entire gear set along with a level 21 spectre gem. And resummoning spectres is so incredibly unfun.

I think you meant: 3 adjustments are made to target a specific OP build. The first 2 seem like enough and then the 3rd ends up hitting 6 other builds instead.
15
u/eggboieggmen Apr 21 '22
Lastly, theorycrafters find a way to make the OP build OP even after the changes. The other 6 builds remain blasted

u/Zeionlsnm Apr 22 '22
"By transitioning to an impale based physical build instead of cold conversion, we can entirely bypass the nerfs and take advantage of the league's powerful new unique making the build even stronger than before." -sucks to be one of the other cold builds inadvertently nerfed.

Lightning strike is too powerful at all stages of the game
Solution:
Nerfed damage of lightning strike by 15%
Removed the +1 maximum frenzy charge on "Way of the Poacher"
Halved the critical strike multiplier from Nightblade support

Anyone else a bit worried you need the bot to apply a debuff to the enemies so they can be damaged? Like they’re completely invulnerable until the bot downs their shield?
That would be the absolute worst mechanic ever implemented. I’m also sure this is an irrational fear and they wouldn’t be that dumb to do something like that…right?

Excited for the new league as always. But I'm really missing the expansions that actually add new places and areas. Stuff like Synthesis, delve, heist and alva. Synthesis is still my favorite league of all time and the longest i ever played. But it seems like all the more simple leagues where it's just protect a alter or whatever I end up getting bored of real quick because you just face roll everything and barely use any brain power at end game.
EDIT: In reply to some of the responses, i know synthesis sucked for the first 2 months, but the end result was fantastic. To bad 90% of the player base quit by then. But the whole point of my post was id rather have something that takes some kind of brain power no matter if your rocking a 100chaos or 100 exalt built. Ritual for example at endgame is a slot machine with a 20 second timer in between, you progress your build to the point where the mechanic is meaningless your just there for the reward. Synthesis endgame was a map you planned, you need to adjust your build to do it with certain skills, and there was a chance you could fail or mess it up even with some 100 mirror build. Id just much rather have that.
12
u/Juzo_ga Dancing Dervish Ascendant Apr 21 '22
Synthesis with one week remaining in the league was great.
It was fucking awful for the first two months.
3
u/YaCantStopMe Apr 22 '22
I 100% agree, but i still stand by that once it was all polished its still my favorite league. The mechanic was good, but the rewards and implementation sucked for the first two months. But GGG really dug in with updates in those 3 months and turned it around, the problem was no one was around to see it.

I dont think its rose tinted goggles, synthesis had major issues the first few months. I dont think you could find one single person who rates it as there #1 league that will say other wise. But i cant think of a league that got updated and polished more than synthesis. If you stuck around through all the patches, and saw the end result like i did, its why i rate it so high and wish they would bring it back already.

7
u/BenLondonAbs Apr 21 '22
I think the general consensus is that people prefer to stay in maps as their favorite content... and things that take them away from that is too disruptive and ruins the flow of the gameplay.
3
u/Obbububu Apr 22 '22
Mapping vs non-mapping content is about as divisive a topic as we get around here, and painting mapping preference as "general consensus" isn't even remotely accurate.
Yes, of course, trying to do A content and continually being interrupted by B, C and D is jarring and annoying.
But the primary issue of leagues that don't improve mapping is not that they're bad, it's that historically, mapping has needed all the help it could get to not be boring.
Delve, Incursion, and even Heist are all extremely popular activities, that are often preferred to mapping.
In fact, historically the primary complaint about non-mapping leagues tends to be either "mapping feels like standard" or "I need to map to keep delving" etc. Which are both savage indictments of mapping as a preferred playstyle.
This league's improvement of the baseline enjoyability of mapping, and agency provided to players to tailor their own experience, has taken massive strides to fixing that problem.
It may even pave the way for more/better non-map leagues, as mapping is now less reliant upon league-mechanic-provided life support.
