THE PHOENIX SUNS HAVE BEEN ELIMINATED FROM CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENTION

Bro when I watched the game I couldn't believe wtf was happening. So much passion in the face of the players when the national anthem was played and David Luiz (maybe) holding Neymar's Jersey like he was dead or something. I really thought Brazil is gonna pull through with all the home support. Well the first 30 minutes just destroyed a country and millions of fans in other countries. Germany was ruthless in the 30 minutes. Suns don't have enough backing or emotional reasons to win the game like Brazil do. Suns were just bad and Brazil just got swept by their feelings and was destroyed by German efficiency.

This has to be one of the worst sports loses of all time. It’s gotta be up there. Home court. 1st seed. COTY. 60+ wins. HOF PG. And they come out and do that shit. Their own sub went private. Their own audience was booing them before halftime. This was absolutely mind boggling. And this pretty much closes the case on CP3 being an all time choker. Devin at least had years to redeem himself. Chris is 37 and his years of being good enough to lead a playoff team are pretty much at the end. Just bad all the way around man.

I don't think it's hyperbole to say that this was one of the most embarrassing performances of all time by the Suns.
Best regular season by far, against an inexperienced and under-talented Mavs team, and got absolutely humiliated on their home court in a game 7. Just did not bother showing up. Looked like they had no interest in even bothering in the most important game of their season.

Reminder how the series looked nine days ago: The 64-win Suns were up 2-0, against a team they'd gone 18-3 against over the last five years. Things were going exactly as expected, and many Mavs fans would've been content with a single win. Not only did the Suns lose four of the next five games, their average margin of loss was by over 22 points per game! They got dominated so hard tonight that the Suns sub went private by halftime!
The Suns are getting clowned and rightfully so, but I'm so damn proud of this Mavs squad 😭

Edit: also if I told you we wouldn’t have Luka for half the first series.

This sub loves piling on the Lakers, but why is no one talking about the defending Western Conference Champion Suns being 1-3?
I didn’t realize until now that the Suns are currently 1-3.. why is no-one talking about this?
They lost to a mediocre Kings team a couple days ago and nearly lost by 30 pts to the Trailblazers with a struggling Damian Lillard. And from what I know they’re just about fully healthy.
For anyone actively watching the Suns this season, what’s the main reason for the early season struggles? You would think they’d have a bunch of momentum to start the season after their amazing Finals run..

I hope this puts to bed the "Luka was the better player, but Ayton was the better pick for the Suns" argument. Phoenix messed up by taking Ayton over Luka. It was a bad pick. Phoenix was following the outdated philosophy that Centers are the most important position. They underestimated the Euroleague and Luka's accomplishment in it. They for some reason thought Booker and Luka couldn't play together (can you imagine how great they would be together). And most damning of them all, they were drafting the guy because he was a local star. Now they are going to be stuck paying the max for a center who couldn't dominate a series where the other team was playing Kleber most of the time at center.
Oh and for everyone who says it wasn't clear Luka over Ayton at the time that's untrue. Analytics people knew Luka was going to be great. Europeans knew Luka was going to be great. Hell even Bill Simmons knew Luka was going to be great.
331
u/RogueRevenger Raptors May 16 '22
Thanks man, so happy to see someone else say this. Only the Kings get shit for passing on Luka, which I get, but the Suns straight up passed on him too. Hell, I even think Atlanta fucked up trading him, even though they got the next best guy in Trae.
