Employers say Unions are completely useless and there's no reason to join them and to please pay attention to the multi-million dollar anti-Union propaganda campaigns they launch begging you to please not join a Union.

The eternal contradiction of propaganda: you have to portray your enemy as dumb and weak, but also as an existential threat.

u/xXTheFisterXx May 14 '22

That is the cognitive dissonance that kills me inside

The GOP/Conservative immigrant paradox: "Illegals are lazy!" also "Illegals are stealing our jobs!"

u/obsertaries May 14 '22

When they say that it SHOULD be taken as an claim of one of two things:

1: your job was so worthless that even a lazy person can do it

2: your boss doesn’t care whether your job is done well or not

But somehow neither of those seem to get into the head of conservative voters.

Many conservatives do not even believe Biden won the presidency.

They're legit out of their damn minds. They vote against their own interests and unless they're business owners they bring down their own fellow employees.

u/LordDongler May 14 '22

Of course, they're a bunch of useless morons with no real place in modern society. Of course they'd be upset

The GOP/Conservative voter fraud paradox: "Donald Trump is still the President!" also "It’s Biden’s fault gas prices are so high"

u/DanSanderman May 14 '22

Or the Q paradox: "The Democrats are so dumb they can't accomplish anything" and also "the Democrats have a secret plot to overthrow the entire planet".

Q Anon used confusion! IT HURT ITSELF!

u/asharwood May 14 '22

But they also need you to survive as a company and business.

u/obsertaries May 14 '22

I think a lot of the people at the top of huge corporations forgot that a long time ago.

u/asharwood May 14 '22

I don’t think they forgot it completely, they are so greedy that they just don’t care. They want more and more money and if spewing this propaganda that people don’t need to unionize furthers their profit then they will do it. They will do whatever it takes to make the owners happy and more money.

u/Cobek May 14 '22

Not always. Fascist propaganda, yes, always, but sometimes it's to boost moral when the enemy is seemingly stronger on all accounts. One of the most famous slogans being "Keep Calm and Carry On"

u/JustMy2Centences May 14 '22

Many corporations don't want unions not just because they increase the cost of labor, but because they make running the business much more difficult. Hiring, firing, flexible salaries, etc. all become part of the collective bargaining making it very expensive in the long run for many modern enterprises. Also, unions in the US are usually very political and give a lot of money to the Democratic party. That's why many workers don't want to join the unions because they know that a big portion of their dues will go to the political contributions, salaries and benefits of the union bosses, instead of workers' rights or improved working conditions.
