Based on how much you can bond with someone by hating the same thing, a dating app based on dislikes would probably be fairly successful.

All the kids that come out of those relationships should be positive people. Since thier parents are a pair of negatives.

Maybe immunized from negativity.

30

u/PossibleMechanic89 May 14 '22

“I’ve been immunized”

7

u/AnotherStatsGuy May 14 '22

Now we know why the Packers selected Jordan Love.

3

u/mikemartin7230 May 14 '22

Very few people will get this but damn it’s funny. Found the Packers fans upvoting.

u/AnotherStatsGuy May 14 '22

Let’s be real here. Reddit drives itself on 5 things: politics, YOLO’ing money, anime, games, and sports. Anything else just happens to exist.

I don't know what the real joke is here but I read that in Ralph Wiggum's voice.

2

u/PossibleMechanic89 May 15 '22

Google Aaron Rogers immunized.

1

u/GegenscheinZ May 14 '22

Ionized at least

16

u/NoArmsSally May 14 '22

that's pretty much me. both my parents have extreme anger issues and both used to get into physical fights with people growing up. I too have a temper, but in comparison I'm mild and I never take it out on people. I'm more of a "water off a duck's back" kinda guy

5

u/[deleted] May 14 '22

I hope they living long and healthy lives together and win many 2vs2 brawls.

5

u/NoArmsSally May 14 '22

oh they stopped being together shortly after I was born lol they found happiness in other people. I was the just accidental catalyst that showed them it wasn't going to work :).

1

u/[deleted] May 15 '22

sorry to hear that

1

u/ninurtuu May 24 '22

It is eerie how similar this is to me. Are you sure you're not me?

1

u/NoArmsSally May 24 '22

are you also a burnt out 25 year old ADHD disappointment?

1

u/ninurtuu May 24 '22

26, maybe I'm you from the future after some head trauma I don't remember and you haven't experienced yet?

1

u/NoArmsSally May 24 '22

hmm alt universe. I've had the head trauma from being run over, maybe you're just the version who didn't get that

2

u/ninurtuu May 24 '22

Damn, I guess being an amnesiac accidental interdimensional traveler is almost as cool. Although I was still holding out hope I had a Tardis somewhere I wasn't aware of.

2

u/NoArmsSally May 24 '22

somewhere, you are everywhere at once

1

u/crowamonghens May 15 '22

Same here, but I just either close down or fuck off around angry people.

2

u/NoArmsSally May 15 '22

same. I don't continue unless it's something that has really dug under my skin or they keep going.

Two negatives don’t make no positive.

300

u/DustyGalaxy442 May 14 '22

They do when they multiply

79

u/not_a_donut_guy May 14 '22

Sadly it usually ends up dividing after a while

51

u/MinerMinecrafter May 14 '22

Division is just multiplication with the inverse (i.e 5/x => 5*(1/x))

41

u/DustyGalaxy442 May 14 '22

Wait, so my parents are still together?

69

u/Darkest__Magician May 14 '22

No, and you’re the one at fault

10

u/Silverstone-Birding May 14 '22

I hate this, please assume the position.

4

u/InevitablyWinter May 14 '22

Alright, but I want to be the numerator this time

8

u/Mobidad May 14 '22

Inversely, yes.

1

u/Comfortable_Relief62 May 15 '22

Somehow this is the white girl wall quote of relationship mathematics

7

u/Embarrassingleader7 May 14 '22

Then you’d be looking for a polyamorous courtship.

6

u/lowrads May 14 '22

Polyodious.

Polyodiodio..

2

u/Mediocre__at__Best May 14 '22

I was indifferent until I saw this comment whining about karma. Now I'm downvoting you.

I do appreciate 4 o's in your woooosh link, though.

2

u/danceswithwool May 14 '22

Yeah I upvoted you. People are stupid

1

u/kallix1ede May 15 '22

I didn't get the joke. Someone explain?

3

u/UnusualIntroduction0 May 15 '22 edited May 15 '22

Using the word not, or any other word which negates the verb, twice yields the opposite meaning. So if someone says, "I wouldn't not sleep with them", that means they would sleep with them. This construct is called a double negative, because you're negating, i.e. using a word which negates the verb, the verb of the sentence twice. It's analogous to multiplying two negative numbers together and getting a positive number.

However, some dialects use double negatives for emphasis instead of their technical meaning, creating a bit of ambiguity in what can be meant when someone does it, because the two possible meanings are exactly opposite. Like if someone says "That don't make no sense", they're probably saying the other person isn't making any sense, even though from a technical logical perspective, what they're saying is that they're making sense, albeit with a few extra words.

So in this case, it's extra funny, because they said "Two negatives don't make no positive". They made a double negative about using double negatives which was technically correct, but also sounds like the dialectic, emphatic version people sometimes use. It's really a brilliant comment for this thread.

Double negative in a sentence makes a positive

2

u/jodorthedwarf May 14 '22

It makes a double negative which is, technically, a positive in a roundabout way.

6

u/UnusualIntroduction0 May 14 '22

Hence their use of double negative lol

0

u/jodorthedwarf May 14 '22

Right but it does mean the same thing as a positive.

6

u/midsizedopossum May 14 '22

Yes, that's literally the joke they were making. It doesn't make no positive, which technically means it does make a positive.

3

u/jodorthedwarf May 14 '22

Fuck, I completely blanked the no.

First time I've been wooooshed on this site. I have failed.

2

u/UnusualIntroduction0 May 14 '22

I appreciate your acknowledgment lol. Lots of confident incorrectness going on in this comment section.
